Privacy Policy

Account and profile

You can join a run as a guest (an anonymous account created automatically via our backend, Supabase) or by signing in with Google or Apple, which shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us as provided by that provider. We store the display name and avatar you set for a run.

Run and group activity

To run the core features of the app, we store the runs and groups you create or join, which pubs you and your group have checked off, drink logs and ratings you submit, comments you post, fancy-dress and pub-golf choices, costume votes, buddy pairings, and “muster” or SOS alerts you send. This information is visible to the other members of your run.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device’s location to show you on the route map and to automatically check you in when you arrive at a pub. If you grant “Always” location access, this can also happen while the app is in the background, so your squad’s live map stays up to date. You can decline background location and still use the app with foreground-only location, or deny location entirely and check in manually. Location is shared with the other members of your run for the duration of that run and is not used for advertising.

Photos

If you choose to attach a photo to your profile or to a pub, we access your camera or photo library only to let you pick or take that photo, and we store the photo you submit in our backend storage (Supabase Storage) so it can be shown to your group.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, we store a device push token so we can send you run-related alerts (for example, an SOS from your group or a buddy heading to a pub).

Technical information

Our backend provider (Supabase) and hosting provider (Cloudflare) log standard technical information such as IP address and request metadata for security and reliability purposes. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

We use the information above to:

• Run the core features of the app: runs, check-ins, ratings, photos, and live group status.
• Show you and your group members where everyone is during an active run.
• Send notifications you’ve opted into.
• Keep the service secure and working reliably.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Your run activity, ratings, photos, comments, and (if granted) location are visible to the other members of the run you’re part of. Behind the scenes, data is processed by our infrastructure providers acting on our behalf:

• Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and realtime sync).
• Google and Apple (if you choose to sign in with those providers, and for map display / push delivery).
• Expo (push notification delivery) and Cloudflare (web hosting).

We don’t share your personal data with anyone else, except where required by law.

We keep run and account data for as long as your account or run exists. You can delete photos, ratings, and comments you’ve posted from within the app. To delete your account and associated data entirely, contact us at the email address below.

If you’re in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

The Otley Run is a pub crawl and the app references alcoholic drinks throughout. The app is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “last updated” date above.
